UA ENGINEERING PROGRAMS ACCREDITED BY ABETT
The University of Alabama College of Engineering’s degree programs have been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET Inc.,
the recognized accreditor of college and university programs in applied science, computing, engineering and technology.
ABET accreditation demonstrates a program’s commitment to providing its students with a quality education.

CHBE STUDENT RECEIVES DINGWALL ASIAN ANCESTRY GRANT
Ynhi Thai, a senior in the University of Alabama’s chemical engineering program, will receive a prestigious and highly competitive
William Orr Dingwall Foundation Asian Ancestry Grant. Thai has been awarded approximately $18,000 for her undergraduate studies and research project. CE PROFESSOR NAMED FELLOW BY ASCE
The American Society of Civil Engineers recently honored Dr. Ken Fridley, professor and department head of civil, construction and environmental engineering at The University of Alabama, with election to the grade of fellow.

SWE RECOGNIZES NUMEROUS UA STUDENTS
- >Martha Addison, a senior in aerospace engineering, is one of two students who have been elected as the Regional Collegiate Representative for the Southeast Region in the Society of Women Engineers. She represents the students on the national Council of Representatives by serving the region including Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico, and South Carolina.
- Jill Hoover, a junior in chemical and biological engineering, was selected as a SWE Future Leader this summer, and she attended the SWE Collegiate Leadership Forum in Minneapolis, Minn. SWE Future Leader’s are freshmen and sophomores who are nominated by their collegiate sections due to their leadership abilities, and 20 are selected each year. Since the inception of SWE Future Leader’s program in 2006, three other UA SWE members have been selected: Martha Addison, Sarah Grano, and Amanda Wachtel.
- Mary Kathryn Sewell, a graduate student in chemical and biological engineering, has been selected as a finalist in the Graduate Collegiate Poster Competition at National Conference.
- Katie Davis, a senior in mechanical engineering, has been selected as a finalist in the Collegiate Poster Competition at National Conference.
UA COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING TO HOST OPEN HOUSE
